First Session for MBAs

I was waiting for this since I left my previous job in January 2019. It is exactly three months i entered into virtual teaching mode. I am dying to get into the class. I have taught previously at various level incluing primary school as an Engpish teacher.

However my wait ended today when I took my first teaching and learning session for MBA students at IIMR. Honestly, I waited for this and prepared at extremely serious level to an extent that my family asking whether I habe yeaching experience or not. I prepared the course outline, selected the reading material, and set the objectives. It was an independent experience of design, implement, and learn.

The session was titled active listening and feedback mechanism. My planning was for 90 minutes with anticipated long Q&A and extended discussion. I anticipated two questions and were raised. I answered. However,  I think I spent too much on one topic in one section and therefore I could not reach the case study. With technical glitch I could not show a video in section but I learnt it during the 15 minutes break. The purpose of rhe video clip was to set a background to the case study. The secondary objective was to connect, build rapport, and create an engagement dueing the first session.

I think I need to learn to manage the class time. Content management and delivery time needs to be finely tuned. Learning Objectives I think could have been shared earlier to make it more challenging, interesting, and ambitious. I guess my learners enjoyed, though this view is really subjective.
